It’s just corporization (which may or may not be a valid word so don’t kill me for it). A platform made for kids has stopped being friendly to kids. As much as nostalgia is blinding people and not letting them progress forward, I think maybe there’s a chance we don’t want this direction? Everything is trying to be the next VR with stupid metaverse (which I still don’t understand what that is? i thought it was about VR and AR, not computer games??) and realistic-like characters. We’ve voiced our opinions but it seems Roblox doesn’t care. It kind of went from “I don’t like the new update. The button seems a bit off”: “Let’s fix that!” to “Uh? Will this increase our profits? No. I don’t care.”
We’ve already tried to bring back old Roblox with RetroStudio, you know why? Because that version of Roblox didn’t have the ugly, flat, and realistic characters they do now. Nobody likes it who plays Roblox, the only people who like it are probably the ones who buy stocks from their company. Literally just corporization again.
Do you remember when each Roblox game was actually not a game and instead kind of a 3D personal blog? Places? YOUR PLACE? The first game that is on your account? Well, looks like it’s called experiences now. Not even games. So we went from personal blog, to the next gaming platform, to now not even for games but literally just like “experiences...” See how it’s gotten vague?
I wish we could just boycott Roblox and that way Roblox would have no choice but to either change or starve. And wouldn’t that suck for them? We’re kinda hopeless and dependent on Roblox to change because we’re probably not just going to switch randomly to another platform.
The future is looking dire. Not just for Roblox, for everything. AI slop, can’t tell what’s real anymore, depression being at a higher rate each year, and brain rot… I don’t know if we can even fix it. We’re screwed. AI will probably take over and erase us all anyway. And it’s not us who will want that, it’s the billion dollar companies who are so adamant on globalizing AI that they are so blinded and want AI to screw them that they don’t notice how bad and horrible this could be. I think we’re starting to accept it. AI was supposed to be a tool, or kind of a disposable assistant. Now it’s the one actually doing the work, NOT a helper. I don’t know what to think. Please, for one year, can we just get rid of this stuff so people don’t have to whine and hate on everything every second of their life?
